IRS FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs)
How long is the assessment?
The assessment takes between 45 minutes to 1 hour, depending
upon the applicants' response time with the written exercises.
Does the applicant initially contact the Language Specialist to
begin the assessment?
No. The Language Specialist calls and identifies himself/herself,
and gives his or her contact information (telephone and fax numbers)
to the applicant. The applicant will in turn call the specialist
back to start the interview.
What does the applicant need for the assessment?
The applicant should have a working fax nearby, two pens and
paper.
Who should I contact if I do not receive the pass/fail results
within the allotted timeframe?

What should an applicant do if he/she is uncertain of the translation
of a word?
If the applicant is uncertain of the translation of one word,
please leave a blank space where the word was to have appeared.
Where should the applicant send the 2 translations of the written
portion of the exercise after he/she is completed?
The translations should be faxed to the Language Specialist who
was identified at the start of the assessment.
What are the rating scales?
The applicant will receive a PASS rating if he/she possesses
superior or good skills in writing in the foreign language, conversing
in the foreign language and translating to/from English, with
minimal errors or difficulty in comprehending speech. The applicant
will receive a FAIL should his/her skills prove to be sub par
in one or more of the skills.
Who should we contact should the Language Specialist fail to call
at the scheduled time?
Should this occur, please contact the IRS Assessment Project
Manager, Nicole Wells or
202-544-2942, immediately. Either an ad hoc specialist will provide
the assessment within the hour, or the assessment would be rescheduled
at no cost to the client.

Is there a cancellation policy?
Yes. Cancellation fees are as follows: Cancellation with more
than 48 hours notification prior to an assessment, a 25% charge
will be applied. Cancellation with 48-24 hour notification, a
50% charge will be applied. Cancellation less than or equal to
24 hour notification, a 75% charge will be applied.
